Daniel Murphy
Originaire de Montréal, Daniel a grandi dans les environs de Toronto. Après avoir complété ses études en comédie musicale au Sheridan College, Daniel décroche ses premiers rôles au prestigieux Festival de Stratford dans les productions de West Side Story et Dracula. Il incarne ensuite le rôle de Gilbert Blythe dans Anne, la maison aux pignons verts au Festival de Charlottetown. Puis, il fait partie de la première distribution francophone de Chicago, avec Véronic DiCaire et Stéphane Rousseau, présenté à la Place des Arts de Montréal, au Casino de Paris, à la 29e Cérémonie des César à Paris au Théâtre du Châtelet, ainsi qu’à l’émission de Michel Drucker. La célèbre metteure en scène québécoise, Denise Filiatrault, a dirigé Daniel dans les productions de My Fair Lady, Sweet Charity, Un violon sur le toit ainsi que dans Chantons sous la pluie, où il a incarné le rôle de Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) avec René Simard au Théâtre St-Denis. Plus récemment, Daniel a décroché un premier rôle dans le cadre de la première mondiale de la comédie musicale April Fools.
Ses premières expériences sur les plateaux de cinéma l’amènent à tourner avec Charlize Theron dans Head in the Clouds, ainsi que William Hurt et Catherine Deneuve dans Au plus près du paradis, un film de Tonie Marshall. Il a joué le rôle de Brandon dans Mémoires Vives à ICI Radio Canada, ainsi que dans Faits Divers avec Marc-André Grondin. Daniel a aussi participé à Ma vie avec John F Donovan réalisé par Xavier Dolan et a joué Éclair dans la comédie The Ninth sur CBC Gem. Dernièrement, Daniel est apparu dans la série Three Pines sur Amazon Prime avec Alfred Molina et dans le film The Christmas Checklist.
Auteur-compositeur-interprète de talent, Daniel lance son premier album solo Unmade Bed en 2012. Dans le cadre de cette aventure créative, Michel Pépin lui ouvre les portes de son mythique Studio Frissons, où ont travaillé Rufus et Martha Wainwright, Jean Leloup et Arcade Fire. Daniel lance aussi le mini-album Pour toi en 2017, réalisé par Antoine Gratton. Celui-ci propose des chansons en français à l’image de son créateur; lumineuses et authentiques. Les titres de l’album ont tourné sur les ondes de Rythme FM à Montréal et à travers la province de Québec, ainsi que sur SiriusXM Franco.
Originally from Montreal, Daniel grew up in the Toronto area and studied musical theatre at Sheridan College. Upon graduating he landed his first roles at Canada’s prestigious Stratford Festival, in productions of West Side Story and Dracula. He went on to play the role of Gilbert Blythe in Anne of Green Gables at The Charlottetown Festival. He was part of the World Premiere of the French version of Chicago, with Véronic DiCaire and Stéphane Rousseau, at Place Des Arts in Montreal, Casino de Paris, the 29th César Ceremony in Paris at Théâtre du Châtelet, as well as on Michel Drucker’s TV show. Famous Quebec Director, Denise Filiatrault, directed Daniel in the productions of My Fair Lady, Sweet Charity, Fiddler on the Roof as well as in Singing in the Rain, where he played the role of Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) with René Simard at Théâtre St-Denis. Most recently, Daniel landed a leading role in the musical April Fools (World Premiere).
His first experiences on film sets led him to work with Charlize Theron in Head in the Clouds, as well as William Hurt and Catherine Deneuve in Nearest to Heaven, a film by Tonie Marshall. Also a talented singer-songwriter, Daniel launched his first solo album Unmade Bed in 2012. As part of this creative process, Michel Pépin opened the doors of his legendary Studio Frissons, where Rufus and Martha Wainwright, Jean Leloup and Arcade Fire worked. Daniel also launched the mini-album Pour toi in 2017, produced by Antoine Gratton. This album offers songs in French in the image of its creator; bright and authentic. Tracks from the album have played on Rythme FM in Montreal and across the province of Quebec, as well as on SiriusXM Franco.
Gab Desmond
Ravi de travailler sur une nouvelle création musicale de Jean-François Poulin produite par TRANSCEND.e, Gab Desmond habite à Chelsea (Québec) avec sa famille. Diplômé de l’American Musical and Dramatic Academy (NYC), il y a plus de deux décennies, Gab décroche cinq spectacles consécutifs lors de sa première année aux États-Unis, y compris ses débuts sur Broadway au Roundabout Theatre dans Three Sisters de Tchekhov avec Amy Irving, Paul Giamatti, Eric Stoltz et Billy Crudup. Depuis lors, sa carrière l’a emmené partout à travers le monde : d’un rôle principal sur un bateau de croisière dans les Caraïbes, au rôle de Schlomo dans la tournée européenne de FAME (Wolfgang Bocksch Concerts), à la production Encore! de Tokyo Disney Sea au Japon, ainsi qu’aux rôles de Gringoire et Phoebus lors de la tournée mondiale anglophone de Notre-Dame de Paris (France, Russie, Japon, Chine et Taiwan).
Ses rôles favoris incluent : Frankie dans Forever Plaid (Gryphon Theatre / Capitol Theatre et Centre Segal), Schroeder dans You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (New Yorker Theatre), Sherlock dans Sherlock Holmes (Centre Segal) et, bien sûr, la production musicale et première mondiale de Duddy Kravitz, composée par Alan Menken (La Petite Sirène, Aladdin, La Belle et la Bête), également au Centre Segal. S’appuyant sur le succès de son rôle dans Ordinary Days (GCTC) à Ottawa, pour lequel il a été en nomination pour performance masculine exceptionnelle (Prix Rideau), Gab a récemment eu l’honneur d’incarner le rôle de Herr Schultz dans la comédie musicale Cabaret (Productions Ovation).
Thrilled to be working on a new musical creation by Jean-François Poulin produced by TRANSCEND.e, Gab Desmond lives in Chelsea (Quebec) with his beloved family. Upon graduating from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (NYC) over two decades ago, Gab landed five shows back-to-back during his first year in the United States; including his Broadway debut at the Roundabout Theatre in Chekhov’s Three Sisters, featuring Amy Irving, Paul Giamatti, Eric Stoltz and Billy Crudup. Since then, his career has taken him around the world and back again; from a cruise ship in the Caribbean (lead singer), to the role of Schlomo in the European Tour of FAME (Wolfgang Bocksch Concerts), a lead singer role in Tokyo Disney Sea’s production of Encore! in Japan, and the roles of Gringoire and Phoebus on the English World Tour of Notre-Dame de Paris (France, Russia, Japan, China and Taiwan).
His favourite roles include: Frankie in Forever Plaid (Gryphon Theatre / Capitol Theatre and Segal Centre), Schroeder in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (New Yorker Theatre), Sherlock in Sherlock Holmes (Segal Centre) and, of course, the World Premiere musical production of Duddy Kravitz – composed by Alan Menken (Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty & The Beast) – also at the Segal Centre. Building on the success of his role in the Ottawa-based musical production of Ordinary Days (GCTC), for which he received a Prix Rideau Awards nomination for Outstanding Male Performance, Gab recently had the honour of portraying the role of Herr Schultz in the musical Cabaret (Ovation Productions).
Jean-François Poulin
Comédien, chanteur, musicien, metteur en scène, chef de choeur et danseur, Jean-François a participé depuis les 20 dernières années à des dizaines de productions théâtrales francophones et/ou anglophones et à plusieurs productions télévisuelles et cinématographiques. C’est toutefois en 2017 qu’on le remarque et qu’on souligne son talent (Prix Victor et Félix 2017) dans le rôle de Bert, dans la production Mary Poppins sous la direction de Serge Postigo. Depuis, il a joué entre autres Charles Gill dans la production Nelligan au TNM, Michaud dans Gaz Bar Blues chez Duceppe, et Edmond Halley dans Newton au théâtre de la Marjolaine.
Jean-François est aussi compositeur auprès d’artistes québécois établis. Pour faire suite à son album folk Drôle d’oiseau, sorti en 2016, réalisé par Michel Rivard, il est à la création d’un musical en collaboration avec Geneviève Boudreau, Gab Desmond, Denise Noël, Stéphane Blanchette et bien sûr… les productions TRANSCEND.e!
Actor, singer, musician, director, choir director, and dancer, Jean-François has been involved in dozens of French and/or English theatrical productions, as well as various television and film projects over the past 20 years. However, it was in 2017 that he gained recognition and acclaim (2017 Victor and Félix awards) for his role as Bert in the production of Mary Poppins directed by Serge Postigo. Since then, he has portrayed Charles Gill in the production Nelligan at TNM, Michaud in Gaz Bar Blues at Duceppe, and Edmond Halley in Newton at the Marjolaine Theatre.
Jean-François is also a composer working with established Quebec artists. Following his folk album Drôle d’oiseau, released in 2016 and produced by Michel Rivard, he is currently collaborating on a musical project with Geneviève Boudreau, Gab Desmond, Denise Noël, Stéphane Blanchette, and of course… Productions TRANSCEND.e!
Geneviève Boudreau
Geneviève débute son parcours dans les arts de la scène par la danse à l’âge de 9 ans. Puis, elle poursuit des études professionnelles au prestigieux programme de Music Theatre Performance de Sheridan College, où elle obtient son diplôme avec honneurs en 2004. Depuis les 20 dernières années, Geneviève multiplie les projets à titre de chorégraphe, metteure en scène, interprète (danse, chant, théâtre) et directrice de productions.
On a pu la voir dans des pièces telles que Crazy For You, Edith Piaf, A Life in Songs, Arianna, The Heiress et The Great Gatsby. Elle dirige plusieurs pièces de théâtre musical, dont Les Misérables, Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Mamma Mia, Notre-Dame de Paris, Le Fantôme de l’Opéra et Frozen. Elle est la conceptrice/chorégraphe de plusieurs créations de danse-théâtre: Voyage dans l’imprévu, La Fillette et la Porte, 3 Minutes Delete, De l’autre côté de la porte, À ma place et Projet 0.0. Elle est également l’heureuse directrice et fondatrice de l’école La Station studio de danse, en plus d’en être une des enseignantes, depuis son ouverture en 2009.
Geneviève began her journey in the performing arts through dance at the age of 9. She then pursued professional studies at the prestigious Music Theatre Performance program at Sheridan College, where she graduated with honors in 2004. For the last 20 years, Geneviève has multiplied projects as a choreographer, director, performer (dancing, singing, acting) and production director.
She has been seen in shows such as Crazy For You, Edith Piaf, A Life in Songs, Arianna, The Heiress and The Great Gatsby. She has directed several musical theatre productions, including Les Misérables, Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Mamma Mia, Notre-Dame de Paris, The Phantom of the Opera and Frozen. She is the designer/choreographer of several dance-theater creations: Voyage dans l’imprévu, La Fillette et la Porte, 3 Minutes Delete, De l’autre côté de la porte, À ma place and Projet 0.0. She is also the director and founder of La Station studio de danse, in addition to being one of the dance teachers since its opening in 2009.
